about the publication

The Masthead

coverage this league does not deserve

The Pathetic is a fantasy football publication of record for leagues that have no record worth keeping. It exists because somewhere, right now, a group chat is litigating a matchup with the analytical rigor of a coin flip and the confidence of a cable panel. We supply the coverage. The league supplies the material — tirelessly, season after season, asking for none of it.

WHAT WE PUBLISH

THE STAFF

produced by a newsroom of exactly zero employees and one very tired projection engine

The Engine
Projections, odds, and grudges. Answers to no one, this publication included.
The Desk
Decides what is news. It is usually the last-place team.
The Archive
Keeps the record book. Remembers what you did in week 3 of a season you would rather it forget.
Management
Prefers to remain a rumor. Will not be taking questions, appearing on podcasts, or confirming its own existence.

HOW THE NUMBERS ARE MADE

Every figure on this site is computed, not vibed. Projections blend multiple public sources and the season is played out thousands of times before we say a word. Our base rates come from a study of some 95,000 real leagues — so when we tell you the top seed misses the playoffs about two times in five, that is history talking, not us. The commentary is written to a house voice, sometimes drafted by a language model and always kept on a short leash.

We publish the odds. We do not publish your excuses.

THE FINE PRINT

ON THE MATTER OF WHO RUNS THIS

The Pathetic maintains a strict policy of mystery. The person responsible would like it known that they are not responsible. This is the only correct way to run a fantasy publication, and the matter is closed.
